Rescue Squad Refuses To Respond To Child With Autism

A troubling situation involving a child with autism happened early Monday morning. The child’s parents reported it was hitting its head on the floor and would not stop. The child was bleeding, and the parents requested a squad.

The rescue squad refused to respond unless a deputy was on the scene, so they parked outside the home and waited.

The mother called 911 and said the child had calmed down a bit, but still needed assistance for injuries. A deputy advised the squad that the child was not violent, but the squad refused to go inside until a deputy arrived on the scene.

It appeared the incident was in response to a recent medication change, and the youth was not badly injured. The family decided to transport their child to the hospital in their own vehicle.
