Rev, Richard Lee “Creed” Thomas, 73, of Wheelersburg, OH, passed away peacefully surrounded by his children on December 7, 2020, after a 14 month battle with Glioblastoma. He was born January 25, 1947, in Franklin Furnace, OH to the late Paul A. and Mary J. Thomas.
Along with his parents, he was proceeded in death by his wife of 45 years, Mary “Loretta” Thomas, whom he married on August 7, 1971. Also proceeded in death by five sisters: Elenor Thomas, Irene Kerns, Annabelle Hacker, Donna Sue Stapleton, Charlotte Carver, and one brother, Andrew Thomas.
He was a 1967 graduate of Green High School. He was a grader operator for Porter Twp, owner of Creed’s Construction, and retired carman/welder for CSX Railroad. He spent several years in church ministry, traveling for revivals and singing. He has pastored multiple churches, the last 9 years being at Christ Victory Church in Bloomingburg, OH. He was an avid hunter, jerky maker, and gardener.
He loved to joke with others and share his love for Christ. He is survived by his children: Cheryl (Greg) Conkey of Wheelersburg, Angela (Roy) Beadle of Minford and Andrew (Crystal Webb) Thomas of Franklin Furnace; and grandchildren: Cody, Brent, Brianna, Mariah, Kiersten, Abbigail, Leevi, and honorary grandchildren, Jackson and Lily Webb.
He had a great-granddaughter, Olivia Acree, and a second great-granddaughter, Paisley Line, due March 2021. He is also survived by siblings: Hazel (Howard) Brown of Franklin Furnace, OH, Paul E. Thomas of Columbus, OH, John Roger Thomas of Wheelersburg, OH, Barbara Spriggs of Wheelersburg, OH, Evelyn (Micheal) Blevins of Franklin Furnace, OH, Robert Thomas of Wheelersburg, OH and Darrell Thomas of Franklin Furnace, OH.
Visitation will be held 5-8 pm on Thursday, December 10 at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg, OH, and funeral on Friday, December 11 at 11 am with visitation one hour prior. Rev. Lenord Roop will officiate. Burial and graveside services will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. He will be greatly missed by the many who loved him!
