Richard Brian Curtis, 59, of West Portsmouth

Richard Brian Curtis

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Brian Curtis, who left us just 12 days short of his 60th birthday. Brian’s legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.

Brian was a devoted husband to Cherie Curtis (Bricker), and their bond was a testament to a lifetime of love and companionship. He was a beloved father to his son, Tyler Curtis, and his daughter, Ryan (Tara) Curtis, who were his pride and joy. Brian was often talking to his life long best friend, Tony Ward, and his extended family.

Born to Mabel Curtis (Napier) and James Curtis, who both preceded him in death, Brian was also preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his siblings Charlene Keller, Chuck (Diane) Miller, Tom (Karen) Curtis, Keith Faulkner, Debbie Jenkins, Beth (Jimmy) Strickland, Tim (Kim) Curtis, and Tammy Blevins. Brian also had a deep love for his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He valued the special bonds he shared with each of them and enjoyed watching them grow. Each family member held a special place in his heart, and he cherished the times they spent together.

Brian had a passion for sports, particularly basketball and football. He was an avid fan of the Reds, The Ohio State basketball and football teams and the Cincinnati Bengals, he was often found armchair coaching during games. He loved coaching and enjoyed shaping young minds into good, honest, hardworking teams. Brian had a way of bringing a group of people together, even when it didn’t look like the group of personalities would click into a team. His enthusiasm for sports was contagious and brought joy to those around him. Brian retired from Honda of America in Marysville, Ohio, and was a 1982 graduate of Portsmouth West High School.

In every aspect of his life, Brian exemplified dedication and kindness. His warm spirit, sense of humor, and unwavering support will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Visitation for Brian will be from 5 to 8:00 PM on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth. Graveside services will be at 1:00 PM Sunday at Scioto Burial Park in McDermott. The family requests that everyone wear their favorite sports team apparel. A celebration of Brian’s life will be held in West Jefferson at a later date, where family and friends can gather to honor his memory and share stories of the wonderful man he was. Condolences may be sent to www.rogerwdavisfuneralhome.com. Rest in peace, Brian. You will forever be in our hearts.
