Richard Leroy Burris of Lynx, Ohio, and formerly of Carpentersville, Illinois, passed away on April 8, 2026, at the age of 69. He was born May 18, 1956, in Danville, Illinois, to Carl and Sylvia Burris.
Richard was a proud U.S. Army veteran and later worked for many years as a machinist. He was an outdoorsman at heart who enjoyed fishing, being in the woods, and spending quiet time in nature. He was also a devoted son who cared for his parents full-time until their passing, reflecting his deep sense of loyalty and love for family.
Richard is survived by his sons, Aaron (Anna) Kunkle of Raton, Colorado, and Tyler (Megan Tompkins) Burris of West Dundee, Illinois; his daughter, Sunny (Tyrell) Bell of Crystal Lake, Illinois; his brother, Randy (Dawn Kreuger) Burris of Marengo, Illinois; and his sisters, Carla (Lonnie) Grooms of Lynx, Ohio, and Connie (Rick) Kamp of Lake George, Colorado. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, as well as his best friend, Bert Hayslip.
A Celebration of Life will be held by Richard’s loved ones this fall in Illinois.
