Rickey “Rick” Mitchell Nickels, 70, of South Shore, KY., went to be with the Lord Thursday, October 10, 2024, surrounded by family and friends at his residence. He was born in Portsmouth, OH., August 21, 1954, a son of the late Talmadge and Ann Aldridge Nickels.
Rick was a United States Navy Veteran and a retired heavy crane operator from CSX Railroad.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Tammy Nickels; two sisters, Sharon Kay Nickels and Lynn Nickels; three brothers, Douglas Nickels, Kenny Nickels and Jerry Nickels.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of ten years, Shelley Mercer Nickels; six daughters, Mandy (Jo) West, Amy (Aaron) Timberlake, Emily (Abe) Haislop, Amber (Brian) Crum, Leigh (Jesse) Pennington and Angela Browning; one son, Joseph (Ariel) Conley; three sisters, Cathy (Mike) Erwin, Rebecca Drake and Tracy (Brent Dixon) Nickels; seventeen grandchildren, Kaleb West, Kylie West, Paige West, Tessa West, Eric (Tara) Timberlake, Haily (Austin) Howard, Zsatsey Conley, Conner Lykins, Samuel Haislop, Whitley Crum, Peighton Haislop, Manny Gonzalez, Josie Crum, Maggie Pennington, Bennett Crum, Lucius Conley and his best friend Solly Haislop; two great-grandchildren, Elijah Howard and Maddoxx Howard. Along with several other nieces, nephews, family and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services will be at 3 P.M. Monday, October 14, 2024, at Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore, KY., with Brad Howerton and Chester Keathley officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be at the funeral home on Monday from 12 P.M. until the funeral hour.
