A Waller Street resident contacted Portsmouth police after she said her Ring camera caught a neighbor walking onto her property, looking into her yard, and acting inappropriately.
The caller told officers she checked her camera and saw a man near her house looking into her yard. She said the video showed him messing with his groin area.
According to the report, the man walked up her back steps, looked over her fence, then turned his back toward the camera.
Police reviewed the video and said the man appeared to manipulate his genital area, though the video did not show explicit exposure or a clear sexual act.
The caller told police she was concerned by the behavior.
Officers contacted the man, who denied doing anything inappropriate.
Police advised him that he was trespassed from the caller’s property and warned him that if he returned, he could be arrested for criminal trespassing.
But the incident did not end with the police report.
The upset resident shared her Ring video on social media, where it quickly drew dozens of shares and hundreds of comments.
The video appears to show a man peeking through the fence while touching his groin area, though he is facing away from the camera. The woman said that the man had claimed to police that it wasn’t him on the video, though officers could clearly see that it was. He was warned to stay away from the home or face trespassing charges.
No arrest was reported.
Police handled the call as a trespassing issue and documented the complaint.
