Road Rage And A Gun On Gallia

Portsmouth, Ohio officers investigated a report of a road rage incident involving a gun on Gallia, strange noises on a rooftop, and yet another case of unemployment fraud.  We break down the highlights.

Up On The Rooftop

It’s a little early for Santa to arrive, but just after 1 am, a 5th Street caller heard a noise on her roof that made her think she might have visitors.

Officers arrived just 8 minutes later and saw no sign of reindeer, elves, or anyone else up there.

Screaming At The Super Quik

At 3:30 am, a caller reported a man jumping around and screaming in the parking lot of the Super Quik on Gallia. Police advised the man to leave.

Traffic and Crashes

Suspicious Activity

Harrison Street callers reported a strange man in a brown Carhartt going in and out of people’s yards just after 9 am.  Witnesses saw him run down the alley and again on Bosner.

Identity Theft

Another case of unemployment fraud. A 77-year-old man reported he was contacted about a non-existent unemployment filing just after 11 am.  Police reported the incident to all the appropriate agencies.

At 1:12 pm, a Summit Street caller reported someone attempted to open accounts using his identity.


Hey! That’s My Stuff

An 11th Street caller reported a man stealing a toolbox just before noon. When police caught up to the guy, they discovered he had a mini-fridge he found in the trash.  Police checked to see if it was reported stolen and didn’t find it listed.

The CVS on the Scioto Trail reported shoplifters just after 8:30 pm. The crooks stole makeup off the wall and left in a red Ford Focus. Police took info for a report.

Gun Pulled On Gallia

AT 1:12 am, a delivery driver headed to Aldi reported a road rage incident. He said another driver cussed at him at a red light,  followed him onto the Aldi lot, and pointed a gun at him.

Police tracked the drover down on 6th Street. He denied making threats but admitted he did complain about the victim’s driving. The delivery driver declined to press charges.

Shirtless with a Shotgun?

At 1:15 pm, an 8th Street caller reported a shirtless man standing in his yard swinging a shotgun. When officers arrived, they discovered the man had a BB gun.

Family Feud

Lost And Found

Officers came to the rescue of a man who got lost at the BP on Gallia at 7:30 pm. The Adams County dispatcher reported a man was lost. He couldn’t figure out how to get back home. His family members were on the way.  He was in a vehicle at the gas station.

Police checked on him. They said he was confused. Officers waited with the man until family members arrived at 9:13 pm.
