Robert James Fitzpatrick, of Piketon, Ohio, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with mesothelioma. He was 57 years old.

Born on August 13, 1967, in Columbus, Ohio, Robert was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and cherished brother. For 25 years, he shared a beautiful life with his beloved wife, Jennifer L. Fitzpatrick. Together, they built a strong, loving family that brought Robert his greatest joy.

He was a proud father to Courtney (Mindy) Ingram of Akron and Shallyn Deal Morway of Piketon. His legacy lives on in his beloved grandchildren, who fondly knew him as “Pap” — Layne “Hank” Morway, Lynnlee Fitzpatrick, and Zac and Zoe Ingram. Robert was also a dear brother to Rusle (Leslie) Fitzpatrick of Commercial Point and Roger (Jodi) Fitzpatrick of Ashville Ohio, with many nieces and nephews and beloved sister in law Teresa Ward.

Robert served his country with honor as a United States Marine from 1986 to 1990 then continued his services in the National Guard for many years, embodying the values of strength, dedication, and service. Along the way Robert made many lifelong fellow Marine friends. Following his military service, he continued to serve his community as a Correctional Officer at Ross Correctional Institution, where he was well respected. Robert worked with pride and integrity for 25years.

Robert will be remembered for his quiet strength, patient heart, and deep wisdom. He was a man of great courage and unwavering love for his family, country, and community. Robert was an avid deer and turkey hunter. He enjoyed his time in nature and taking long rides on his Harley Davidson.  He will be deeply and forever missed. Robert knew the Lord and was saved, and we rejoice in the assurance that he is now resting in eternal peace.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert C. Fitzpatrick and Zella C. Fitzpatrick.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00pm Friday, April 18, 2025 at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Waverly.  A military graveside will follow in Fairmount Cemetery in Jackson, Ohio.  The family will receive friends from 5:00pm – 7:00pm on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at the funeral home and for one hour prior to the service on Friday.
