Roger Gene Lundy, 86, of Lucasville, died Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at his residence.

He was born March 28, 1937 in McDermott, a son of the late Rial Wesley and Pauline Burcham Lundy.

Roger was a retired teacher and coach with 41 years of service beginning in McDermott, a four year stint at Portsmouth West, and the remainder of his career in the Valley Local School District. He was a 1955 McDermott High School graduate, received his Bachelor of Science in Education from Lincoln Memorial University, Harrogate, Tennessee where he played basketball and is a member of LMU’s Hall of Fame, and obtained his Masters Degree in Counseling from Xavier University. He was a member of Word Alive Fellowship in Piketon.

He was also preceded in death one sister, Zelma Smalley.

Roger is survived by his wife of 60 years, Louisabelle Plumb Lundy, whom he married November 3, 1962 in Lucasville; two daughters, Kathie Martin of Lucasville and Tracy Munn of Clarktown; one son, Chris (Bethanie) Lundy of Lucasville; seven grandchildren, Wes (Whitney) Martin, Elizabeth (Josh) Dooley, Laken, Lexie, and Sydney Munn; and Blake and Layla Lundy; three great grandchildren, Brian, Cason, and Kate; and one sister, Sharon Penn of McDermott.

Funeral services will be conducted at noon, Friday, July 21, 2023 at the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville with Ron Endicott officiating. Burial will follow in Lucasville Cemetery. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and an hour prior to the funeral Friday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Roger’s name to the Valley Legacy Scholarship, c/o the Scioto Foundation, 303 Chillicothe Street, Portsmouth, OH 45662.
