Roger Lloyd Day, 87, of McDermott, Ohio passed away Monday, September 19, 2022, at his home. He was born June 2, 1935, in Crockett, Kentucky to the late Curtis E. Day and Esta M. Hutchinson Day.
On July 23, 2005, he was united in marriage to Donna Taylor Day who survives. Also surviving are his children, Randall “Randy” (Tina) Day of Blue Creek, Cheryl (Darrell) Cox of Lucasville, William “Billy” Day of Blue Creek, Lisa (Chris) Martin of Dayton, and Daniel (Rachel) Day of McDermott; step-children, Billie Jo (Jim) Smith of Lucasville and Michael David (Renee) Wooten of Indiana; 8 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and 1 step great-grandchild.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Thelma Mae Boatman Day; brothers, Gene and Wendell Day; a daughter-in-law, Tiffany Day; granddaughter, Amanda Day; and great-granddaughter, Aubrey Day.
Roger proudly served his country in the United States Marines. He retired from North American Refractories after 30-plus years of service. He was a member of the Marine Corp League in Adams County, a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, and a member of the Otway Christian Union Church.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at Otway Christian Union Church. Burial will follow in Moore’s Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 pm Monday, September 26, 2022, at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Otway and for one hour prior to the service at the church.
