Rosella Hickman, 79, of New Boston passed away Friday, September 17, 2021, at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth. She was born February 14, 1942, to the late Clarence and Myrtle (Hamilton) Martin in Marion, OH. Rosella attended the Rosemount Nazarene Church. She will always be remembered as a loving housewife and mother. She loved playing cards with her girlfriends and making ceramics. She was a big-hearted loving person who never met a stranger. Rosella was also a member of the Eastern Star. She along with her late husband founded and operated Hickie’s Hamburger Inn and Hickie’s Bakery and Donut Shop.
Rosella is survived by two sons, Brad Hickman of New Boston and Chad Hickman and wife Stacy of Minford; thirteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; an aunt, Sugg Hickman of New Boston; an uncle, Tom Hickman of Portsmouth; and a special friend, Norma Glenn of Rubyville. Rosella was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald W. Hickman who passed away March 27, 1992; two sons, Donavon Jay Hickman and Jeff Hickman. The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff at Bridgeport Healthcare Center and SOMC Hospice who provided excellent care for Rosella. The family requests donations are made in Rosella’s name to SOMC Hospice.
