Ross County, Ohio: Search and Rescue Underway in Paint Creek
A search and rescue is underway in Ross County after a man fell overboard a boat.
It occurred near route 50 and Rapid Forge Road this afternoon. Dispatchers confirm that witnesses say the man fell overboard from a boat and hasn’t been seen since he went into Paint Creek.
The call came in at around 5:30 p.m.
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources is the lead agency on the scene and they have launched boats in the creek; they’ve also requested their helicopter, which was spotted hovering overhead the creek. Volunteer search and rescue crews are on the scene scouring the area, as well.
The park’s dam has been shut down to help stave off treacherous waters.
Update:
Crews searched until nightfall at around 8:30 p.m. before efforts were called off until Monday morning due to darkness; there were no signs of the man.
