Sandra Kay Hedrick, 80, of McDermott, passed away Thursday, April 30th, at SOMC Hospice. She was born August 3, 1945, in Portsmouth to the Late Paul and Elizabeth (Crabtree) Dettwiller. Sandra is survived by her Daughter; Claire (Dan) Adams and her granddaughter, Sarah all of Grove City; three sisters, Phyllis (Tony) Hurley of Nicholasville, Kentucky, Rita (Jay) McKnight of Cincinnati, Benita (Andy) Osborne of Lucasville; seven brothers, Roger Dettwiller of McDermott, Mike (Cathy) Dettwiller of Otway, Steve (Margaret) Dettwiller of Frankfort, Albert (Kimberly) Dettwiller of Pomeroy, Tom (Nita) Dettwiller of Peebles, Mark (Katie) Dettwiller of Hillsboro and Keith (Mishawn) Dettwiller of Piketon; special cousin Rosemary Slone of South Webster, and her great nephew whom she adored, Seth (MacKenzie) Hall of McDermott, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Sandra is preceded in death by her son, Eddie Hedrick and sister-in-law, Joyce Dettwiller.
She was of the Catholic faith and was proud to be one of “those Dettwiller Kids from the flats.” She was a homemaker and a 1963 graduate of Notre Dame High School. Sandra was a true character to all who knew her. She loved crafting, sewing, and gifting things to others.
She was loved by all and was a staple of the Diehlman Branch community for many years before residing at River Run of Portsmouth.
The family will have a Mass of Christian Burial to be announced at a later date, with interment at Garvin Cemetery.
