School Employees Indicted for 44 Counts Child Abuse in Special Education Classroom

Four school employees are facing serious criminal charges after a grand jury indicted them for child abuse in relation to incidents that happened in a special education classroom between October 14 and November 12 of this year.  Greenup County Schools said the incidents were discovered after administrators watched security videos following a complaint on November 13.  

According to court documents, the alleged crimes took place at McKell Elementary School and involved kids under the age of 12.  

Michael Lyons, 32, of South Shore, faces 14 counts of first-degree criminal abuse. He’s due in court for an arraignment on January 29.  

Makenzie Rice, 24, of Greenup, is also charged with 14 counts of first-degree criminal abuse. Riche is scheduled to face a judge on December 19 for arraignment.  Fellow Greenup resident Faith Jordan, 22, faces nine charges of first-degree criminal abuse.  She’s also due in court on December 19.  

South Shore resident Ashley Trissler, 35, faces seven counts of first-degree criminal abuse.
