Scioto County CPS and Portsmouth Police Spring Into Action After Baby’s Bones are Broken

PPD and CPS sprang into action after a social worker from Children’s Hospital called CPS to report a 4-month old Portsmouth baby with suspicious fractures. CPS immediately contacted officers.

Detectives headed out to a 4th Street address and then went to Children’s Hospital to continue their investigation. Another unit executed a search warrant ad the 4th Street address. Two officers then contacted the subjects they wanted for further questioning.

Welfare Check

A Thomas Avenue caller asked police to check on the welfare of two kids. The caller claimed their mother was on drugs, locked the kids out of the apartment, and they are allowed out late at night without supervision.

When police knocked on the door, there was no answer.

Teen Fights Mom Over Phone

Officers retrieved a defiant teenage girl after an altercation with her mom over a phone. At 2:28 am, police were called to a home after a girl got into a fight with her mother.

The mom said the girl hit her after she refused to let her use her phone for social media. The girl then fled on foot. Police found the girl and took her home.
