Who Let the Jobs Out? Scioto County Hiring New Dog Warden

Scioto County is on the hunt for a top dog—and not the four-legged kind. The Scioto County Commissioners have officially approved a job posting for a new full-time Dog Warden, and applications are now open.

This 40-hour-a-week position offers a starting wage of $15.50 per hour, plus a full benefits package that includes sick leave, vacation time, and the use of a county vehicle. It’s a hands-on role for someone who doesn’t mind getting a little fur on their clothes—and maybe a slobbery kiss or two along the way.

The job calls for experience handling dogs with a range of temperaments, so animal lovers with a cool head and a calm voice will have an edge. Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google Docs is a must, and while animal-handling experience is a plus, on-the-job training will be provided for the right self-motivated candidate.

Applicants must be able to work independently, pass a background check, and pass a drug test.
