On Sunday evening, Portsmouth Police responded to a report that a Sciotoville teen was holding his family at gunpoint.
Several police officers converged on the area rapidly.
When police arrived, they discovered that the teen fled the home. Officers checked the home to ensure it was clear and assessed the family, who was shaken by the incident.
In an attempt to find the teen, other officers fanned out.
It has been reported that he may be heading towards a nearby residence. Upon contacting the homeowner, it was reported that the home was locked and the alarm was activated. They promised to return as soon as possible.
A police officer spotted the teen outside of the house shortly after contacting the homeowner.
An order was given to the teen not to move and to surrender. According to the officer, the teen had been found and was now complying with his orders.
A number of officers assisted in the apprehension of the suspect.
The teen was taken to police headquarters for questioning and then transported to the youth juvenile detention center in Lawrence County.
No injuries were reported to the family. Neither the number of family members nor their ages were known at the time of this horrifying incident.
