A 38-year-old Sciotoville woman is sitting in the Scioto County Jail after being caught in bed with a 15-year-old boy last week and he may not be her only victim. The illegal and inappropriate relationship was discovered after the teen failed to show up for school. His concerned mother sent her father-in-law to the family home to check on the boy and he discovered the child in bed with an adult woman. The mom notified the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office.
When a detective spoke to the boy, he admitted having sexual relations with the woman. To make matters even worse, he told police that drugs were also involved. Detectives were able to get even more confirmation of the story when they got their hands on copies of Snapchat videos. That’s when they decided to go to the Farney Avenue home of Rebecca Constance Jones, who at 38 is more than twice the boy’s age, and ask her a few questions.
After questioning, Jones was arrested and charged with four counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor. That charge is a third-degree felony. Jones is being held at the Scioto County Jail. She’ll be spending at least the weekend there unless she can come up with a $40,000 bond. She’s due in Portsmouth Municipal Court on Monday, February 24.
Jones could still be in a lot more trouble. Captain John W. Murphy, of the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office, says investigators have gotten tips that Jones has additional underage victims, so the investigation is still ongoing.
