Sentencing Postponed Again For Drug Trafficking Prison Addiction Counselor

Shelley Mathias

Judge Mark Kuhn was supposed to have already handed down a sentence for disgraced prison drug counselor Shelley Mathias

Mathias pleaded guilty back in July for her part in a scheme to smuggle dangerous drugs into the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility where she worked as an addiction counselor.

Officials recorded Mathias communicating with two convicted drug traffickers about their plans to bring drugs into the SOCF. Her husband, Corrections Officer Matthew Mathias was stabbed 32 times by inmates in an attack at another facility in 2018.

Her original sentencing date was August 24, but that was moved to September 27. The sentencing date has once again been moved, this time to November 21st at 2 p.m. Sources tell us that Mathias is dealing with health issues.
