Sheriff Scolds Deputies for Scaring Neighborhood (Audio Included)

Lawrence County Sheriff Jeff Lawless

An extensive manhunt was underway on Friday afternoon for a wanted felon in Lawrence County. Their search led them to Burlington’s Willow Vale Estates, an upscale condominium complex.

More units arrived in the area as the search intensified. The male had been spotted in the area but may have fled into the woods. A K9 Unit was dispatched.

As more deputies converged on the area, an all-out effort was made to locate this wanted individual.

However, they were unaware of the time and that two nearby schools were letting out. With an apparent police operation underway, the schools were worried about releasing the children.

The Sheriff’s Department was receiving calls from citizens seeking answers.

At that point, it was decided to stand down and let the school buses through. Deputies were told they scared people.

After more radio traffic about their intentions, Lawrence County Sheriff Jeff Lawless took to the radio and made this very stern announcement.

As you can hear, the Deputies were clearly frustrated as they wanted their man. Plus, school just started. It’s been a long time since they had to consider that element in their tactics.

What do you think? Do you agree with the stern decision by the Sheriff?
