If you’re in the market for a weapon, watch out! Law enforcement issued a warning that close to a hundred stolen guns could be for sale after thieves hit an area gun club was hit by thieves. The crooks made off with rifles, pistols, and shotguns meant to go up for auction.
According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, a representative from the Boot Hill Gun Club contacted officers to report someone had broken into their building and made off with 90 weapons of varying makes, models, and calibers.
Jackson County officers, the Ohio Bureau of Investigation, and the ATF are investigating the crime. Sheriff Frazier advises the public to be on the lookout for stolen guns. “I encourage individuals purchasing guns to check the Ohio Stolen Gun Portal, a searchable website designed by the Ohio Attorney General to increase public safety by helping to identify and recover stolen firearms.”
The Sheriff said if you come across a stolen gun for sale, make sure to immediately contact law enforcement. He also asked that anyone with information on the theft contact his office at 740-286-6464.
