Shoplifting Call Turns Heated at Wheelersburg Kroger — Police Also Respond to Nearby Dollar Tree Minutes Later

The Portsmouth Kroger isn’t the only grocery store drawing police attention. Deputies were called to the Wheelersburg Kroger after employees reported a man attempting to leave the store with a large amount of unpaid merchandise.

When staff confronted him, the situation escalated. According to dispatch, the man became belligerent, and his yelling could be heard in the background of the 911 call.

By the time officers arrived, the situation had calmed, but the man was still on scene. Deputies ultimately issued a trespass warning, banning him from returning to the store.

No additional charges were filed at that time.

🚨 Second Call Just Minutes Later

Only minutes after clearing the Kroger call, dispatch received another report — this time from the Wheelersburg Dollar Tree.

The caller reported two individuals inside the store who were not supposed to be there, but hung up before providing additional details.

When Scioto County Sheriff’s deputies arrived, the individuals had already left the store.
