Shots Fired at West Portsmouth Home 

A West Portsmouth caller reported someone fired shots from a black vehicle at a home on 9th Street at 11:30 pm.  

They said the vehicle had driven up the road multiple times and fired about 10 shots. Deputies were unable to locate shell casings and suspected that it was perhaps fireworks.  

Gun Threat Reported in Wheelersburg 

A Wheelersburg woman contacted officers at 12:30 pm to report that two individuals who had threatened her with a gun were currently at her apartment complex. 

She told officers she feared for her life and did not want them around. Officers determined there were no weapons or threats involved and that the gun incident had happened some time ago.  

Deputies at the scene learned that the other person involved lived in the same apartment complex. The reporting parting said she would take steps to file a protection order. 

89-year-old Points Gun on St. Rte. 104 

Just after 4 pm, a caller contacted the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office to report her 89-year-old neighbor road past her house on a 4-wheeler and pointed a gun at her back door. She said she had a video of the incident.  

When officers arrived on the scene, they spoke to the resident and to her elderly neighbors. Apparently, the man had a Red Ryder BB Gun and was shooting at birds.  

Deputies attempted to mediate the situation and calm everyone down.  

Gun Threats at Homeless Camp 

A man working on a Kendall Avenue building contacted officers at 10:35 am to report that a homeless man setting up camp in the area had threatened him and his wife in the alley behind Aldi. He said the man said he had a gun. 

When officers arrived on the scene, they detained the suspect at gunpoint. They recognized him as a man who had reported someone shooting at him at the Speedway the night before. Officers said he was rambling about guns and bullets.  

Police searched the man but did not find a gun. They contacted Code Enforcement to remove his camp. 

Around 8:30 the next morning, police were back on the scene after a caller reported a homeless man sleeping in the alley behind the building. Police told him to move along.
