Portsmouth officers responded to reports of shots fired in Wayne Hills and two women reported being held against their will. We break down the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing.
Child in Danger?
At 4:23 am, a caller reported a child screaming for help from a 17th Street apartment.
When police arrived on the scene, they discovered the child was just being noisy because he did not want to go back to sleep.
Suspicious Activity
Just after 9:30 am, officers responded to Patties and Pints for a report of criminal damaging.
A woman renting the Airbnb above the restaurant reported someone busted out the Windows of her white Jeep Wrangler. A security cam video was released on social media showing the suspect entering the vehicle several times and taking nearly a dozen items.
Police took information for a report.
Against Her Will
- At 9:44 am, police responded to US 52 for a report of a vehicle pulled over by the salt piles. A woman claimed her ex was in the vehicle and was attempting to force her to take him to Vanceburg. The vehicle was gone by the time police arrived.
- A woman contacted police at 5 pm to say that her intoxicated husband had refused to let her leave their home with her child. She ran next door to call for help. He left the scene before police arrived.
Breaking and Entering
A Thomas Avenue resident contacted police at 2:08 pm to report that her children’s father was banging on the door trying to get in. She said that when she refused to answer, he got the window open and crawled inside.
He left when she called the police and headed in the direction of his mother’s home. She did not want to press charges, she just wanted him to leave.
Police advised her about the process of filing a protection order.
Falling Down
Just after 7 pm, first responders received a call from Baird Avenue for a fall. A 58-year-old woman fell and possibly broke her arm.
Ten minutes later, officers responded to Mabert Road where a 63-year-old woman fell outside and was unable to get up.
At 7:26 am, a woman contacted police to report that her husband had fallen and could not get up.
Shots Reported on Thomas Avenue
A caller reported hearing five gunshots coming from the area of Thomas Avenue and 17th Street at 12:30 am.
Officers searched the area but did not find anything.
Who Has to Leave?
A man contacted officers at 9:40 am to report that his live-in girlfriend hit him and had threatened to file a protective order against him.
Since they lived together, he wanted to know if he could be forced to leave his home.
Officers explained that it would be up to the court who stayed in the home.
