Shovel Attacks, Dead Chickens, and Peeping Toms

Scioto County first responders dealt with 61 calls on Monday. Here are some of the highlights: Just after 5 am, officers responded to a crash on Webster Street in South Webster near the high school. Witnesses said a heavily damaged vehicle was left in the road and might cause a problem in the morning for school busses. Officers arranged to have the vehicle towed. A Labold Avenue caller reported that someone stole their Harley Soft Tail motorcycle just after 4:30 pm. Officers took information for a report. A caller told officers they were getting threats through Snapchat just after 5 pm. Deputies determined it was a civil issue. Ems responded to Jackson Street after an elderly person fell and hit their head. A 16th Street caller told officers a man hit her shovel with a car and then took off just after 6 pm. However, she didn’t want to press charges. A Canterbury Road resident called 911 after his neighbor’s dog killed his chickens. The caller said he would contact the Dog Warden. A Sciotodale caller told officers there was a drunk man acting belligerent at her home just after 6 pm. Officers determined there had been no threats or violence, just yelling. They advised the woman to evict the man or seek a protection order. A Boren Avenue caller reported a stolen cell phone at 7 pm. Officers took information for a report. EMS responded to an 87-year-old patient in distress on US 23 just before 8 pm. Medics transported the patient to the hospital. Shortly after that, EMS workers assisted someone who had fallen in Wheelersburg. The patient didn’t need to go to the hospital. A Lucasville resident called 911 at 9 pm to say she caught her neighbor peeking through her windows. Twenty minutes later, she called back to say she’d handle the issue herself. A St. Rt. 139 resident called deputies at 9 pm to say her ex was tearing up her house. She said he did not live there and should not be inside. By the time officers arrived, the man had left the area. At 9:20 pm, a caller reported an unresponsive woman in Otway. Officers and EMS responded to the home and confirmed the woman was deceased. The Coroner released the deceased to a funeral home.
