🚨 Sirens & Signals: Scioto County’s Day of Distress

First responders were working around the clock Thursday, May 15, 2025, as Scioto County saw a flurry of medical emergencies and law enforcement activity stretching from Portsmouth to the back roads of Bonser Run and Hammerstein Road. Though the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office decided earlier this year to stop providing us with full access to detailed call logs, limiting our ability to deliver the in-depth reports you've come to expect, we remain committed to transparency. Here’s what we can tell you based on the calls still available to the public: 🚑 EMS & Fire: Health Crises Dominate the Day A total of 22 emergency squad runs were recorded throughout the county on Thursday. The nature of calls ranged from general medical distress to a suspected suicide: Medical Transports: Locations included Ohio River Road, Henley Deemer Road, Sunrise Avenue, Edmunds Road, and the State Route 140 corridor. Several patients were transported to the emergency department. Non-Transports: A few patients declined transport or were treated on the scene, including calls on State Route 140 and Neff Bratton Road. Fire Response: A structure fire was reported just before midnight on State Route 140. Units responded and the case was closed. Injury Accidents: Two traffic accidents were logged—one hit-skip at Taco Bell on Ohio River Road, and an injury accident on Possum Hollow Road. 🚔 Law & Disorder: Burglaries, Domestic Issues, and a Felony Arrest The Sheriff’s Office fielded a variety of criminal complaints, including: Burglary & Theft: A burglary was reported on Millers Run-Back Run Road and another burglary in progress on Oakwood Avenue. A theft was documented on Mt. Hope Road. Domestic Complaints: Incidents occurred on Boren Boulevard and Hammerstein Road. Juvenile Complaints: Two separate juvenile-related calls, one on Calverts Lane and another on Fourth Street, resulted in reports being taken. Felony Warrant Arrest: Deputies made an arrest on State Route 140 after locating a suspect with an outstanding felony warrant. 🚨 Alarm Drops: False Alarms Flood Dispatch The county dealt with over a dozen alarm activations at locations such as: Commercial Sites: Pepsi Warehouse (multiple times), Scioto County Garage, Elks Country Club Golf Shop, and Tractor Supply. Public Facilities: West Portsmouth Little League and AEP on Fairgrounds Road. Private Residences: Multiple alarms triggered on Bonser Run, Big Doney, Lucasville-Minford, and River View Court were either false or canceled. 📍 Incident Hotspots Gallia Pike & Ohio River Road: Saw a mix of squad calls, complaints, and alarm drops. State Route 140: A corridor of concern, with medical calls, a felony arrest, and burglary activity. Hammerstein Road: Home to both a domestic complaint and medical emergencies. Walmart Way/Gallia St Intersection: Site of an investigative complaint.
