Officers answered calls involving a home invasion and a serious drug overdose. We break down the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing.

Get Off My Lawn

A woman called police at 2:30 pm to report that a 16th Street man had threatened her. 

When officers arrived on the scene the man explained that he’d just reseeded his lawn and the woman had parked on his grass. He claimed she got mouthy with him when he told her to move. 

Dog Bite on 6th Street

Officers responded to a report of a dog bite on 8th Street at 4 pm. A man said a dog behind a fence grabbed his jacket but did not penetrate the skin.

He did not wish to report the dog. Police advised the owner to prevent the dog from biting people if they wish to keep it.

Drunk Driving Crash on 4th Street

Police attempted to arrest a man for driving under the influence after a crash on 4th Street just after 2:30 am. 

However, the Scioto County Jail refused to take the driver without medical clearance since he’d been in an accident. Instead, police cited him for OVI and released him to his mother. 

Hey, That’s My Stuff

Officers were called to the Holiday Inn on 2nd Street at 5 am for a report of a vehicle break-in.  The rear passenger window of a truck was busted out. Police took photos of the damage. 

Police responded to Dorman Drive for a report of an overnight vehicle break-in just after 9 am. Officers took information for a report. 

6th Street Home Invasion

At 9:30 am, police received a report of a home invasion in the 1800 block of 6th Street that took place earlier that morning. Officers took information for a report.
