Smoker Trashes Room When Nursing Home Won’t Let Him Light Up

A nursing home patient who really wanted a cigarette raised quite a ruckus.

It all started at 3:15 pm, when a nurse at the facility reported a combative resident throwing items, tearing up his room, attempting to hit nurses, and refusing medication.

Nurses advised the man was wheelchair-bound and partially paralyzed. An ambulance transported him to the hospital.

After the hospital released him, an ambulance transported him back to the nursing facility. However, around 7:30 pm, nurses advised that he was threatening employees and tearing up his room again, shattering frames.

When a deputy spoke to the man, he said he was angry because he was not allowed to smoke. The man agreed to go with an ambulance, and a doctor filled out paperwork to involuntarily commit the man to the hospital. An ambulance transported him back to SOMC.
