Southern Ohio Multi-Agency Probation / Warrant Operation Nets 23 Arrests

The Scioto County Sheriff announced that a two-day “Multi-Agency Warrant Operation” took place on Thursday and Friday, December 16 & 17, 2021.   

Participating law enforcement agencies/units included: Scioto County Adult Probation, Scioto County Sheriff’s Office, Portsmouth Police Department, Ohio State Highway Patrol, Ohio Investigative Unit, U.S. Marshals Fugitive Apprehension Task Force, Southern Ohio Drug Task Force, and Portsmouth Fire Department Tactical Medics.  The Portsmouth Police Department and the Ohio State Highway Patrol had SWAT teams on standby, if necessary.

A list of individuals with active criminal warrants was given to the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force.  The personnel was divided up into teams, supporting the U.S. Marshal Fugitive Task Force.  Teams of arrest warrant service officers were assigned specific areas within the county.  Following the arrest of the individuals, if ongoing criminal or drug activity was detected, the investigation was turned over to either a detective or the Southern Ohio Drug Task Force.  

23 people were arrested during this operation.  All additional cases resulting from this operation will be presented to a Grand Jury in Scioto County by the Scioto County Prosecutor’s Office.  

All of the agencies and individuals involved in the operation were thanked by Sheriff Thoroughman.
