State Seeks Child Missing Since 1928

Fortunately, 98% of missing children in Ohio are recovered within a year. But there’s one missing boy whose disappearance has puzzled authorities for nearly 100 years.

Melvin Horst went missing two days after Christmas in 1928.  The four-year-old Orrville, Ohio boy was last seen carrying a small red toy truck or wagon and was on his way to play with friends a block from his home.

The boys told the authorities that Melvin left to walk home. He never arrived home, but the toy was found in his front yard. There’s been no sign of Melvin since, but he could still be alive and nearing his 100th birthday.
