Portsmouth police handled another roundup of unusual calls, including a reported home invasion involving a stolen PlayStation, men walking with a floor lamp and possible weapons, an unpermitted concession stand dispute at the pool, and a complaint about stolen electricity.
Man Says New Acquaintance Forced Way In, Stole PS5
Police responded to 20th Street after a man reported that someone he had only met the day before came to his home, forced his way inside, punched him in the mouth, and stole several items.
The victim told officers the man left with a PlayStation 5 and a bag containing his wallet.
EMS also responded to the scene.
Police took information for a report. No arrest was mentioned in the initial call.
Floor Lamp, Golf Club, and Possible Gun Reported
Officers also received a strange call from Sherman Road after a caller reported seeing two men walking in the area.
According to the report, one man was carrying a floor lamp and shoes, while another appeared to have a gun in the back of his pants.
A second caller later reported seeing two men heading from Coles Boulevard toward Sunrise Avenue. That caller said one had a golf club, while the other appeared to have a gun in a holster and another gun tucked into the back of his pants.
Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the men.
Health Department Calls Police to Pool
Police were called to McKinley Pool after the health department reported a woman selling items out of the concession stand without a permit.
According to the report, the woman had earlier made verbal threats and used racial slurs toward an employee who tried to tell her she had to stop selling items.
By the time officers arrived, the health department had already left, and the situation was under control.
Resident Reports Stolen Electricity
A Wilson Avenue resident called police to report that someone was allegedly hooked up to his electricity and stealing power.
The man told officers he had contacted the electric company but felt nothing was being done.
Police advised him that the issue would need to be handled through Portsmouth Code Enforcement.
No arrests were reported in connection with the calls.
