Stolen Pickup Spotted on Charles Street

Auto theft with truck

Just before 10 am, an officer spotted a pickup stolen from Greenup County parked on Charles Street in the area of the old Naval Reserve building.

Officers notified Greenup County, and they sent a deputy to the scene as well. Investigators discovered other property that had been in the truck in a yard on Jackson Avenue.

Officers got a search warrant to enter the premises and verify that the property was stolen. Police impounded the property and returned it to the rightful owner. Officers took a suspect into custody.

About an hour later, PMHA Security spotted a suspicious vehicle with Kentucky tags parked at Alexandria House. They reported a man was sleeping in the vehicle.

When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a man they wanted to speak with in reference to another case. They detained him briefly and took information for a report.

Police then contacted Greenup County and asked them to locate the registered owner of the vehicle. Officers in Kentucky were unable to make contact and advised PPD to impound and tow the vehicle. They said they would let the owner know where to find their car.
