Portsmouth Police recovered a vehicle originally reported stolen to the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office.
Dispatch contacted the owner, who said he would find a friend to take him to the former Valero Gas Station on Gallia Street.
Deputies discovered a fictitious tag on the stolen truck and traced it to a Germany Hollow Road Address. However, officers were unable to locate the person to whom the tag was registered.

The owner picked up their vehicle in Portsmouth, and a deputy followed them back to their Wheelersburg home since the vehicle had no tags.
Officers eventually located the person to whom the stolen tag belonged and returned it to them in South Webster.
