Stranger in Driveway Ends in OVI Arrest

South Webster OVI arrest

A South Webster resident called deputies around 6:30 p.m. after spotting an unknown man sitting in a dark gray Subaru in the driveway.

What started as a suspicious vehicle call eventually ended with an OVI arrest.

Scioto County deputies checked the vehicle, which was displaying a West Virginia temporary tag, and contacted the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Troopers responded to the scene and later took Jeremy Lute into custody.

During the call, troopers requested a squad to check Lute before he was taken to jail.

Lute was ultimately arrested on charges of OVI and obstructing official business and booked into the Scioto County Jail.

The available dispatch log does not explain why Lute was sitting in the driveway, what led troopers to suspect impairment, or what happened during the obstruction allegation.

But the call started with a homeowner wondering, “Who is that in my driveway?” and ended several hours later with an OVI arrest.
