Portsmouth police were called to Sciotoville Community School after the principal reported that a female student had a marijuana vape cartridge.
But the student’s explanation for why she had it was the part that stood out.
According to the police report, the student told officers she had picked up the cartridge at home because she did not want a baby to get hold of it.
She said she then forgot the cartridge was still in her purse when she went to school.
An officer spoke with both the student and the principal.
Police noted that the student had only the cartridge and that it could not be consumed in its present state.
Officers advised the school to handle the matter administratively.
The school said the student would be suspended for 10 days.
A guardian was contacted and was on the way to pick her up.
No criminal charge was listed in the information provided.
