Suspicious and Just Plain Weird Behavior

Over the weekend, Portsmouth Police dealt with plenty of strange behavior.

Screaming for Cats

PPD received calls about a man screaming on Scioto Trail. When officers located the man near Yamato Japanese Steak House, he told them he was searching for his cats. The man stated that the cats had followed him to the store and he was looking for them.

Police observed the man had been drinking but was not legally drunk. Officers left the man to continue his search.

Angry Man Goes to Pharmacist’s House

An upset pharmacist called the police to the CVS on the trail. An angry customer came to his house. It was requested that the man be barred from the store.

The pharmacist was instructed by PPD officers to contact them if the customer returned to the store so that they could ban him from the property. The pharmacist lives in another jurisdiction, so the police advised him on restraining order procedures regarding the “home visit.”

Woman Demands Rehab Let Her Back In

The police were called to a rehabilitation facility after a woman persistently rang the doorbell and was acting “manic.” An official from the home stated that the woman had made threats of self-harm and had been transported to SOMC. After leaving SOMC against medical advice, she demanded that she be allowed back into the facility.

When the police arrived, the woman had already fled the area.

Hey Kids, Want Some Beer?

PPD responded to the 1700 block of Grandview after a caller reported that a female had arrived at the residence demanding that her children come with her. The caller also reported that the woman had offered the children beer.

When police arrived, the female had a beer in her hand but denied offering it to the children. Police observed that she was suffering from some mental health issues and requested that she go to the hospital. The woman complied and was transported to SOMC for evaluation.
