Tammy Lee Hurst, 66, of Wheelersburg, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at SOMC Hospice. She was born December 16, 1957, in Portsmouth to the late John D. and Nellie (Lyons) Fisher.
Tammy was a 1976 graduate of Portsmouth East High School, Scioto County Joint Vocational School, and Shawnee State University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Natural Science with a concentration in biology, geology, and mathematics. She loved nature and taking rides down old country roads, she loved to swim, and she also had a passion for pictures and scrapbooking. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family. Tammy was a Christian; she had attended Shiloh Baptist Church and North Moreland Christian Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Lee Hurst, whom she married in 2016.
Tammy is survived by a son, Michael Smith (Tanya), of Wheelersburg; a daughter, Beth Burchett, of Wheelersburg; and a brother, John Fisher, of Lucasville. Three sisters: Debbie Hill, of Portsmouth; Tresa Fisher (Jeff Sparks); and Phyllis McDonald (Roger), of Tarpon Springs, FL. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Cameron Smith, Zoey Smith, Joseph Burchett (Shaylin Penix), Tyler Burchett (Abbey), and one great-grandson, Waylon Izayah Lee Burchett, along with several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Melcher Hammer Funeral Home in Portsmouth.
