Teen Dead After Overnight Stabbing

overnight stabbing

A teenager is dead, and two other teens are in custody after an overnight stabbing on 2nd Street in West Portsmouth.

Scioto County Sheriff David Thoroughman said the call came in around 1 am Monday morning.

EMS and Deputies responded to the scene and found stabbing victim Jayson McGraw, 18, on the ground. An ambulance transported him to the hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

Two teenage suspects fled the scene. Deputies later located them, took the two into custody, and charged them with murder.  The pair have not been booked into the Scioto County Jail yet, because they are minors. It is unclear where the teens are being held at this time as events are continuing to unfold.

The Scioto County Coroner’s Office took possession of McGraw’s body and has transported him to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office for a forensic investigation.

The Portsmouth Police Department provided assistance in the search for the suspects, and Sheriff Thoroughman thanked them for their assistance.

The investigation is still ongoing, and more charges could be filed at a later time. Detective Sgt. Jodi Conkel can be reached at 740-351-1091 if anyone has information regarding this case.
