A 19-year-old woman claimed that a man tried to sexually assault her, and that law enforcement ignored the incident while it was happening.
The woman claimed she was getting gas at Speedway when three Hispanic males got out of a red truck and came up to her, grabbed her behind, and attempted to kiss her on the neck. She said a Scioto County Sheriff’s Deputy walked right past her without helping, and she fled the area to get her boyfriend to help her.
However, when PPD officers watched store surveillance video with the alleged victim’s mother, they saw a different story. Officers said the video showed the woman and a friend pull up to the red truck and speak to two white males in the vehicle for 15 minutes.
Officers said the woman returned to her own car several times and came back to the red truck repeatedly before leaving. There was no Sheriff’s Deputy anywhere on the scene at any point.
Officers decided the entire report was unfounded.
