Tenant Refuses to Leave Heatless House
Police responded to a home on Hill Road just before 1 pm when a maintenance man reported there was an unauthorized person living in what should be a vacant house.
When police arrived on the scene, the maintenance man showed them a letter from the landlord that advised a tenant who was $3,000 behind in rent that she needed to pay up or the landlord would start eviction procedures.
The tenant said she was still living there because she hadn’t been evicted yet and that she was staying there to keep her stuff safe since there was no electricity or water in the residence.
Officers explained to the maintenance worker that the landlord would need to start eviction procedures and notified code enforcement that the home was without water.
