Teresa Kay Montgomery (Stephens), 62, of Waverly, OH passed Monday February 23rd, 2026 at her home. Teresa was born November 7, 1963, in Portsmouth, Ohio. Teresa was the daughter of the late William Edison Stephens and Daisy Faye (Ison) Stephens.
Teresa is survived by her daughter, Autumn Kristie (Robert) Chain of Circleville, Ohio, grandchildren Brooklyn Kay Adams, Brock Evan Adams, Hadlee Eileen Chain, and Oaklee Lynn Marie Chain. Teresa is survived by siblings Burland “Jerry” Stephens of Lawrenceville, Georgia, James Stephens of Biloxi, Mississippi, David (Patricia) Stephens and Garry (Eva) Stephens of Waverly, Ohio.
Teresa was preceded in death by 6 brothers Billy, Ronald, John, Dennis, Bobby, and Danny and two sisters Betty Stephens and Shirley Bryan. Teresa had many nieces, nephews, and cousins that she loved dearly. She was a sunflower-loving hippie at heart that brought light and warmth everywhere she went.
She was fun, free spirited and always took care of everyone she loved and cared for. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and she was the best Grammy anyone could ever have. She had the most positive outlook on life and her laugh and playfulness were infectious. She will be loved and missed by her friends and family.
She was the best mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend you could ask for and she will forever be in the hearts of everyone who knew her. Life was simply more beautiful when she was a part of it and it won’t be the same without her sunshine.
A joint memorial service for Teresa and her sister Shirley will be held graveside at Stephens Memory Gardens Cemetery on 772 near Buchanan on the family farm. The service arrangements will be announced at a later time and will also be available on the Botkin Hornback Funeral Home website.
