TERRIFYING CHASE ENDS ON HIGH SCHOOL PARKING LOT

A young woman trying to get away from a man who was following her ended up doing what many people would instinctively do—driving straight to a school for safety. Deputies were called to a local high school after reports that a man had followed a female driver to campus and was then sitting at a gas station across the street. By the time deputies arrived, the Ohio State Highway Patrol was already there. According to investigators, the situation began in Wheelersburg when the man started following the woman’s vehicle. The pursuit continued into New Boston, where the vehicles stopped at a red light. That’s when things got worse. The woman said the man bumped into the rear of her vehicle. He later admitted making contact, though he claimed it was accidental and happened when she hit her brakes. Instead of stopping somewhere isolated, the woman kept driving and headed to the high school, where her passenger attends classes. Once in the parking lot, the two got into a verbal confrontation until school staff came outside and stepped in. The man then drove across the street to a gas station and waited. Deputies later learned the dispute centered around the vehicle itself. The man claimed he owned the car and wanted it back after seeing the woman riding with another male passenger. Neither side reported injuries, and the woman said she was unsure whether she wanted to press charges. 🚫 BOTH SIDES TRESPASSED FROM SCHOOL PROPERTY School officials made it clear they wanted no repeat of the chaos. The superintendent requested both the woman and the man be trespassed from school property, since neither were students and neither had a reason to be there. Both were formally warned not to return. Deputies also advised the woman on how to retrieve her belongings properly and informed her about the option of seeking an anti-stalking protection order if she felt she needed one. ⚠️ WHAT TO DO IF SOMEONE IS FOLLOWING YOU This kind of situation is frightening—but there are smart ways to respond. Stay in your locked car if possible Let officers come to you. Do not confront them alone In this case, heading somewhere public likely kept the situation from becoming much worse.
