A late-night text sparked a scramble in Stout after a mother received a chilling message from her daughter — claiming she’d been assaulted by a man she has a protection order against.
The mother told Scioto County Sheriff’s Deputies her daughter had no phone service, leaving responders with only fragments of the situation and no way to call the victim back.
Deputies rushed to the home, but by the time they arrived, the accused man had already taken off on foot.

Officers immediately searched multiple locations where he was known to stay — including an abandoned house — but came up empty-handed.
With the suspect still at large, deputies documented the incident and will continue efforts to locate him.
