The Kids Are All Wrong: Dad Offers to Let His Son Beat Up Little Bullies
Misbehaving kids and a missing lawnmower kept officers busy. We hit the highlights of the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing.
Suspicious Activity
- Officers responded to Compass Community Health just before 8:30 am for a report of a masked man who’d gone into the fenced area and had the hoods up on two vehicles. A caller reported seeing someone take a catalytic converter. Police were unable to contact the vehicle owners to determine if a theft took place.
- A New Boston caller reported a man trying to break into vehicles in New Boston. New Boston Police did not want to speak to the suspect.
- Witnesses reported a shirtless man staggering near Kroger at 4:30 pm. Police took the man into custody.
Acting Up
Just after 3 pm, officers answered a call about misbehaving juveniles in a 4th street home. A woman told police her daughter hit her in the face and left the home.
The mother did not want to file an assault or missing child report.
Hey That’s My Stuff
A 3rd Street caller reported a lawnmower theft from their home at 5:23 pm. The mower was last seen about a week previously. The owner had a suspect in mind. Police took information for a report.
Can’t We All Just Get Along?
A caller reported a group of women arguing on 22nd Street at 8:30 pm. One woman had gone to the residence to pick up a washer and dryer she had until later in the week to collect.
However, the other woman had already disposed of it and the two got into a fight. Police advised them it was a civil matter and to go their separate ways.
Dad Has the Wrong Idea
A Thomas Avenue dad volunteered to send his 15-year-old son to bean up some naughty 9-year-olds. He complained to police that little boys in Wayne Hills were hitting little girls.
He said the little girls were mean but that boys still shouldn’t hit them. He tried to speak with their parents but they ignored him. He requested that police try to scare the kids but the officer refused.
He offered to send his 15-year-old son to rough up the 9-year-olds. Police advised him not to.
