The Portsmouth Public Library Annual Book Sale Underway

If you are an avid reader, the Portsmouth Public Library should be your next stop. Starting August 29 and running through September 10, the Portsmouth Public Library is holding its annual River Days Book Sale.

Marketing campaigns for the book sales were held several weeks ahead of time. The Portsmouth Public Library is especially grateful to their community of volunteers who are helping with the sales. Besides the sale of books, buyers can choose from games, puzzles, magazines, audiobooks, and even CDs.

While the Portsmouth Public Library holds book sales throughout the year, the River Days Book sale is said to be their largest and most anticipated event. The sale will be open to members and non-members alike, according to the library. The event is so popular that the library has to restock shelves after the public swarms the room for items.

Everyone is encouraged to bring their own bag and fill up for $5. The sprawling book sale will also include accommodations for the public with restrooms and drinking water. Additionally, the theme for this year’s book sale is school spirit. The library has a special podium dedicated to the children’s reading material.
