Jewelry Thieves Hit Robinson Avenue Home
A Robinson Avenue resident contacted PPD at 2:30 pm to report several items of jewelry stolen from their home. The caller said they were pretty sure they knew who took the valuables.
The caller said the burglary happened sometime between 8:30 pm on Sunday and 7:00 am on Monday. The burglar pushed down a fence in the rear of the home.
Missing from the home were:
- 20 rings valued at $500
- 3 14 karat gold necklaces worth $600
- 5 sets of earrings worth $400
- Gold bracelet worth $250
- Watches valued at $400
- Clothing and other assorted items worth approximately $1000
Officers took information for a report.
Stoned Candy Thief at Super Quik
Just after 1:30 pm, employees at the Super Quik on the Scioto Trail reported an apparently high man behaving strangely.
He was initially lying on the ground near their ice chest, but then came into the store and stole a candy bar.
Police arrived at the scene and trespassed the man from the property. The store chose not to press charges.
Theft Suspect Makes a Run for it on Rarden-Hazelbaker Road
Officers headed out to Rarden-Hazelbaker Road just before 1 pm to look for a suspect in a theft case who also had an open warrant.
The man took off in a vehicle, which he dumped on Rarden-Hazelbaker Road before taking off on foot. Officers discovered multiple items inside the car which they photographed just in case they were stolen. Deputies searched the area extensively for the man but could not locate him.
They then contacted the owners of the vehicle who arranged to have it towed.
Air Conditioner Thief Hits 7th Street
Just after 1 am, officers received a report of a man attempting to steal an air conditioner in the 2000 block of 7th Street.
A caller said a man tried to take the AC unit out of a window and then took off running. Officers responded to the scene and detained a potential suspect. However, he was not the person the resident witnessed attempting to steal the unit.
Police searched the area but could not locate the suspect.
Vehicle Break-In On 21st Street
A watchful neighbor spotted a man breaking into her neighbor’s car on 21st Street just after 7 am. She described the man as having a red beard and wearing a red hat and varsity jacket.
She saw him put items in a shoulder bag and walk off in the direction of the Scioto Trail.
Officers were unable to locate the man. They spoke to the car owner, and fortunately, nothing was missing from her vehicle besides some loose change.
