Dog Shot Dead After Goat Attack in Rosemount

An unhappy dog owner contacted officers after his animal was shot dead by a neighbor on Monday night.

It started when the man’s dog got loose, ran onto a neighbor’s property, and attacked his goat. Another neighbor intervened to break up the fight. Then the animal ran onto a fourth neighbor’s property. That neighbor shot and killed the dog.

Officers viewed a video that showed a neighbor separating the animals and the dog then running back toward a neighbor and a goat.

Deputies did not have video of the actual shooting, but the neighbor who shot the dog said he felt threatened by the animal.

Vehicle Fire Destroys Cars and Garage

Officers responded to a report of a vehicle fire on St. Rte. 104 just before 5 pm on Monday. The initial call said a car was on fire in the woods along the riverbank. However, when Ohio State Troopers responded to the scene, they reported that a garage was on fire.

The fire destroyed a garage and damaged two vehicles so badly that their VIN numbers were unreadable. The fire department contacted the State Fire Marshal to investigate the blaze.
