Thieving Family Steals $75,000 From EMS Service

Local ambulance services are struggling as it is, but one EMS provider was hit hard by not just one, but an entire family of thieves who ripped them off to the tune of $75,000.   The worst part was that the ringleader was a trusted employee.

According to Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost, Tony Wilson, the former fleet manager at Patriot EMS in Ironton, headed up the scheme and was assisted by wife, two sons, daughter, and in-laws.

The Lawrence County Grand Jury indicted Tony Wilson and his family on charges of theft, receiving stolen property, and engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity.

Charges allege he stole fuel cards from the company and handed them out to family members. His family either gassed up their own vehicles or resold the gas at a discount.

Wilson was caught when the company owner noticed charges to their gasoline cards for ambulances that weren’t in service.
