The area’s overdose crisis shows no sign of letting up despite the best efforts of officials to curb the drug epidemic. Scioto County has the highest drug overdose rate in the state of Ohio.
Just before 2:30 p.m., EMS was called to US 52 for a report of an overdosed woman. Bystanders had already administered three doses of Narcan in an attempt to revive her.
A rescue squad responded to the scene and transported the woman to the hospital.
EMS was called to Wheelersburg early the next morning for a report of a person in withdrawal convulsing and vomiting. EMS workers transported the person to the hospital.
