Timothy “Tim” Joe Hoffer, 60, of Rarden

Timothy “Tim” Joe Hoffer, 60, of Rarden, passed away on Thursday, March 18, 2021, at SOMC Hospice.  He was born on October 14, 1960, in West Union to Donald Ray Hoffer and Alice Carol (Powell) Hoffer of Rarden.  On March 20, 2010, he was united in marriage to Danning Wang Hoffer who survives.  In addition to his wife and parents, surviving are three daughters; Haleigh Hoffer and Andy Taylor of West Liberty, Allyson Booher and husband Kyle of Bellefontaine and Andrea Mathias and husband Austin of Dayton; four grandchildren, Tanner, Charlie, Georgia and arriving soon Baby Mathias;  one sister, Cindy Osborne and husband Mike of Rarden; Special Niece, Amy Shirey and husband Dan of Otway; Special Brother-in-law Jack Long and wife Jianing Wang;  several great-nieces and nephews and feline companion Pretty Girl.

Tim is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Cloice and Opal Hoffer; maternal grandparents, Harley and Myrtle Powell and canine companion Wally.

Tim was a graduate of Shawnee State University where he earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering.  He started his employment at Don’s Frame Shop where he developed the skills that allowed him to later become a Senior Engineer for Honda Research and development.  He was employed at Honda for 22 years before retiring in 2015.  Throughout his career, he was able to become well-traveled which helped him to enjoy his passion for trying new foods.  He enjoyed anything to do with John Deere Tractors and cars.  His pride and joy was his red Dodge Truck.  Tim was a lover of all animals who enjoyed his attention as much as he enjoyed theirs.   Tim enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and was always excited when his children came to visit.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 22, 2021, at 6:00 P.M. at the Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Otway with Pastor Jesse Hickerson officiating.  The family will receive friends from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M at the funeral home.
